cellphones with no cameras.
It’s hard to imagine a time before cell phones had cameras in them, but it was a thing!
We had gone on a family vacation and I had my small Canon camera with me to capture every moment! This model of camera had actual film inside where you send it off to be developed by actual people once the roll is complete. (I sound ancient right now)
We were driving in the mountains and had pulled over to take a “selfie” with the beautiful landscape behind us.
I set up the camera on top of the car and was working hard to find the timer to count down before the picture would be taken. The countdown would then allow me to run and get in place with the rest of my family. As my husband so kindly gave me instructions in the background, I got it all set up. It was a success!! Or so I thought.
Once we returned home from our trip, I took the roll of film to be developed and excitedly waited for its return!
Only when it did return is when I realized my timer had not worked the way it was suppose to. As you can see in the picture, as I was trying to figure it out, my camera was already in action!
My family and I still laugh about this photo today! What I learned from it is that you never know when moments or events are being watched by others, almost like pictures being taken.
Now we have phones with cameras included where we can immediately see the results of our picture taking. We can then choose to delete or keep, post or share, text or even print.
So what’s my point. Live each day like others are watching. As a Christian, we are to live by example, showing the love of Jesus, whether we know someone is watching or even taking a picture. I’ve heard it said before, true leadership is doing the right thing even when no one is watching. We know that God is the God who sees us, but you never know whom you might inspire and influence along the way.
1 Timothy 4:12 tells us to lead by example in speech, and conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. May you be encouraged and know your life is meant to be an example to others
