precious thoughts

Have you ever been to the beach? My family and I went this summer and it was wonderful and awful at the same time. Let me explain. The wonderful. . .the waves, family time, the sand. The awful . . . the waves, family time, the sand. Okay, let me explain.

The waves were marvelous. To hear them crashing upon the shore, to watch them and their power, you are reminded of the magnitude of God. He tells the ocean how far to go each and every day and it obeys Him. But then when an unexpected wave hits you and takes you under, tossing you to and from, I find myself saying words under my breath I shouldn’t have.

My family was amazing. To be able to spend time with just the four of us with no distraction or the outside world competing for our attention was a gift. But, when you have spent a week together consistently, sometimes the good, the bad, and the ugly can surface. (don’t judge. We are human.)

The sand was beautiful. To walk on it, play in it, build a sandcastle, feel it in between your toes; what a gift. But the sand keeps multiplying! I am still finding it in places and it is overstaying its welcome!

Psalm 139, verses 17-18 says, “How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can't even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!”

Did you catch that? God’s thoughts about you outnumber ALL of the grains of sand IN. THE. WORLD! Included in this count must be all of the beaches in the word, all of the sandpits in backyards across the globe, and even the sand that seems to multiply in your own home. And God’s thoughts about you are GOOD thoughts.

Even if you begin to write out good thoughts you have about your bestie, your kids, your parents, your spouse (and all of them have to be good thoughts). . . eventually you would run out of thoughts. But God’s thoughts about you NEVER run out. He thinks about you all of the time and His good thoughts about you can’t be counted – there are too many!

If your mind isn’t bursting yet with this knowledge, I will leave you with this. ¼ teaspoon of sand  = 1,000 grains of sand! Picture that in your mind, ¼ teaspoon. Now, think on that and if you don’t feel loved, seen, special, noticed, understood, and valued then please reach out. I’ve got even more truth to share with you!
