about to see Jesus

It’s a phone call I will never forget as long as I live. But also a phone call I will cherish in my heart always.

“How are you?”

“I’m about to go see Jesus.”

I paused, trying to let that sentence sink in until my brain could understand what I just heard.

“What? Did I hear you correctly?”

“Yes. And I have such a peace. The kind of peace that passes all understanding.”

A little over a week later, she did—she went and saw Jesus.

In my sadness, my oldest daughter tried to bring me comfort. “Mom. It’s okay. She’s just moving the location of her home.”

How right she is.

But today, my human heart is hurting and missing my friend who loved Jesus and others so well. But I know there is hope and I will see my friend again one day.

Here’s my question for you. . .

If you learned that you would be seeing Jesus soon, what would you do? What things would you change or do differently? Who would you call to tell how much you love them? What relationships would you try and mend before saying goodbye? Who would you be sure knew the good news of Jesus?

The Bible tells us that only God knows the number of our days here on Earth. Tomorrow is not promised to us. So, let’s live every day on purpose with intentionality. And if/when God wakes you in the morning, we shall thank Him for giving us another day to live our life for Him and show His love to others well.
