the mona lisa
I probably have a unique affection towards the Mona Lisa. Is she smiling? Is she happy? Is she angry, content, upset? I tend to think she’s content with a little smirk on her face because she knows she’s valuable. What I love about the Mona Lisa is that she is Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece. She’s priceless. And what gives her, her value and worth is that she is an original. You know she is an original because she has Leonardo da Vinci’s signature on her.
You have often heard me talk about being a masterpiece! Which you are according to Ephesians 2:10. What gives you your value and worth is that you have God’s signature on your life. He is the artist, the sculptor, and He says you are valuable and priceless.
For most of us, we either have just come out of a storm, we are in a storm, or one is on the horizon. We have been a little scuffed up and believing we are God’s masterpiece might be tough. Some of you feel beat down. Some are discouraged and have lost hope. I don’t know your story, but I know that life can be hard.
God reminds us that He can turn beauty for ashes. And just like this picture of the Mona Lisa that has graffiti and markings added to her, some might say she is ruined or damaged, but I see beauty, uniqueness, and color to her story!
My prayer for you is that you will allow God to help you see beauty in the toughest, hardest, and most difficult situations. He is working even when we can’t see it.
Isaiah 61:3, “ He will be bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.”
