she busy
You know those people that are busy? Like I’m talking really busy. Some of you might be saying yes I do know those people, and you are one of them Courtney! And I’ll be honest…guilty! When I hear people say they have nothing to do or they are bored, I find myself looking at them with a blank stare, wondering what that even is. My entire life, I don’t think I’ve ever said that I’m bored or I don’t know what to do with my time. In my mind, there’s always something to do. But you have to be careful with this way of thinking as well.
The Bible does warn us about putting busyness above God and neglecting our relationship with Him. It actually tells us to be still and know that He is God. We also see that Jesus talked to Mary and Martha and warned Martha about doing all the tasks when He just wants us to sit at His feet. We have to also recognize that the Bible says a man shall work by the sweat of his brow. (Genesis 3:19) and Colossians 3:23 says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human beings.“
So we are to work but how do we not allow the busyness of life to get in the way of our relationship with God?
For me, it’s prioritizing. It’s amazing when I make space for God and spend time with Him, my time seems to multiply! And I definitely have more joy in the work I need/have to do. Balance. Sometimes we have to be like Martha, cleaning the house and getting things ready but we don’t want to miss the opportunities of just sitting at the feet of Jesus like Mary showed us.
This week, before you get busy and hit the ground running, be sure you have prioritized your relationship with Jesus and have made time to sit at His feet. And then go sweat it up girl, working for the Lord!
