wisdom

The Bible tells us in Providence 8:11 that wisdom is far more valuable than rubies. That we should ask for wisdom from God.

I remember growing up and seeing my dad sitting in his car, his eyes closed, still parked in our garage before heading to work. He did this every morning and I finally asked him about it. He told me that every morning before he would leave for work, he would sit in his car and pray for wisdom. I can see first-hand how the Lord gave him that wisdom.

When I think of a wise person, I tend to think of someone with gray hair, lots of “road maps” on their face (otherwise known as wrinkles), and someone that talks slowly and deliberately as you sit on the edge of your seat hanging on every word. Everything they say feels like it should be recorded, underlined and highlighted!

But in reality, real wisdom can be given by the Lord to a small child, to a teenager, young adult, intelligent (or not-so-much) or you name it. And sometimes wisdom and words are not the same. Wisdom can be in actions, thoughts, and things not even said. (Even though you might really want to say something)

James 1:5 tells us “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you."

And Proverbs 2:6 says, “For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.”

Today, take a deep breath, focus on the presence of God, and ask Him to give you wisdom. You will be the richest person on your block!
